NACFE Run on Less Webinar Series

Turning Real-World Freight Efficiency Demonstrations Into Industry-Wide Education

Sector: On Road Commercial Trucking

Type: ACT News Website | Virtual Education Series

Duration: 2021 to 2025

Opportunity

Through its Run on Less initiatives, the North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) has produced a series of in-depth reports documenting how emerging freight technologies perform in real-world operations. These reports capture detailed insights on vehicle performance, infrastructure requirements, duty cycles, and operational strategies across a range of technologies, including battery-electric trucks and other advanced solutions.

While the findings provide a valuable foundation for understanding the future of freight, their depth and technical nature can make it challenging for the broader industry to quickly extract and apply the most relevant insights. At the same time, the pace of change across transportation technologies has increased the need for fleets to access clear, credible, and experience-based information to support decision-making.

NACFE recognized the importance of ensuring that the insights from Run on Less demonstrations did not remain confined to reports alone, but instead reached a wider audience of fleet operators, industry stakeholders, and decision-makers who could benefit from real-world operational learnings.

Approach

Develop a Multi-Part Educational Series Aligned with Run on Less

ACT News partnered with NACFE to design and execute a series of educational programs aligned with key Run on Less initiatives, translating complex report findings into accessible industry conversations.

The series included three distinct programs, each focused on a critical phase of the industry’s transition:

The Electric Truck Webinar Series introduced fleets to NACFE’s research on battery-electric trucks, exploring how these vehicles are performing in real-world duty cycles and what early deployments reveal about operations and efficiency.

The Run on Less – Electric Depot Webinar Series examined the infrastructure required to support electrified fleets, with a focus on charging systems, power availability, site design, and depot-level operational planning.

The Run on Less – Messy Middle Bootcamp Webinar Series addressed the growing complexity of fleet decision-making, exploring how fleets are evaluating multiple technologies—including electric, alternative fuels, and efficiency solutions—during a period of industry transition.

Together, these programs created a structured framework for delivering NACFE’s research across the full spectrum of emerging freight technologies.

Execute Joint Marketing, Digital Campaigns, and Editorial Amplification

ACT News worked closely with NACFE to ensure each program reached a broad and highly targeted audience of fleet operators and industry stakeholders.

This included coordinated marketing efforts across both organizations, leveraging NACFE’s research authority and ACT News’ industry platform to drive awareness and engagement.

ACT News developed and executed digital promotion campaigns—including email marketing, website placements, and social media—to attract fleet decision-makers actively seeking guidance on emerging technologies.

In parallel, ACT News extended the reach of each program through editorial coverage, producing articles that reinforced key themes, highlighted insights from speakers, and ensured the findings reached audiences beyond live attendees.

Deliver Expert-Led, Fleet-Focused Programming

Each session brought together NACFE researchers, fleet operators, and technology providers to discuss real-world deployment insights and operational lessons.

The programming emphasized practical application over theory, helping fleets understand not only what technologies are available, but how they perform in real operations and what it takes to successfully deploy them.

By combining research, real-world experience, and industry dialogue, the series delivered actionable insights to fleets navigating a rapidly evolving technology landscape.
